Combine nectar, rasins and dried apricots in saucepan and simmer 5 minutes. Add orange rind and cool. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add nuts. Blend together shortening and sugar. Add egg and cream. Beat well. Blend in dry ingredients alternately with the fruit to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Blend throughly after each addition. (with electric mixer use low speed). Turn into four well-greased N. 2 cans or two well greased and lightly floured 81/2X41/2X21/2 inch pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. cool throughly before slicing.
